About me
Kia ora/hello and thanks for making it this far.
I call it ‘Strategic Design and Communication’ but one of my clients put it this way - “You make our business look good.” In short, this is what I do:
I get clear on what you’re all about, and what you’re really good at.
I figure out why people will care.
I help you communicate to them in clear and engaging ways.
The slightly longer version:
I studied Visual Communication Design at Victoria University / Wellington Polytechnic School of Design in the mid nineties before learning the trade as a pre-press designer in an Auckland printing company. In 2000 I took a creative detour and went to art school, graduating with a Bachelor of Art and Design (Distinction) in 2002.
Around that time I launched Go Ahead Punk Ltd, a boutique design studio overseeing a range of community, business and artistic projects, and ultimately producing creative for about 70 clients. From 2007 to 2017 I was the creative director of a brand management and marketing consultancy, delivering strategic brand campaigns over print, web and other media. Clients included Flightcell International, Helicopters New Zealand, Sprig & Fern Brewery, Heartland Fruit, Boxman, The Gibbons Group, Jens Hansen, The Nelson Giants, Mediaworks, Griffiths Drilling, Broadcast Map and Vortex Spas. I went back to freelancing in 2017.
For some years I’ve been interested in the role of design in the startup/innovation sector and participated in startup and hackathon events. I have spent countless hours and gained invaluable knowledge developing a number of winning startup concepts towards launch. To enhance and embed my practical experience in this area, I attained a Post Graduate Diploma in Design Thinking & Innovation during lockdown in 2020.
And that is enough about me… let’s hear from you.
